Navigation tips

Open web file in Preview

Are you running Macintosh OS X? Boy, are you lucky! Each issue of the KRLA Beat has been scanned as an image file and assembled into a PDF file.

For the most efficient browsing experience, view in Preview mode. Move your cursor over the lower part of the image and you'll see four icons that let you control the size of the image, launch Preview, or save PDF as a download. Click the third icon for Preview and the program will be launched automatically.

If you're using Internet Explorer version 7, change the size of your window and Bookmarks will automatically appear. If you're using Google Chrome as a browser, your file should open up in Acrobat Reader. Same with Opera, if that's your browser of choice.

Using PDF bookmarks

In Preview you'll notice two icons in the upper left-hand corner of the PDF. The first lets you navigate to specific pages using thumbnail images. The second lets you look over headlines and keywords from each page of the PDF. Click the bookmark you want to navigate directly to that specific page.

Open bookmarks

When bookmarks are displayed you can select topics of interest and select pages you want to read. Use the plus and minus keys in your Preview toolbar to enlarge the type to a comfortable reading level.
